Dong-won Kang & Su-jeong Lim to star in Action / Fantasy piece “Jeon Woo-chi” (Story of Jeon Woo-chi)

Actor Dong-won Kang and actress Su-jeong Lim have signed on to star in a new action/fantasy film “Jeon Woo-chi” (literal title “Story of Jeon Woo-chi”). The film will be directed by Dong-hun Choi ( Tazza: The High Rollers & The Big Swindle ). Other actors cast in the film are Yun-seok Kim (The Chaser) and familiar acting vet Hae-jin Yu.

For Joon-ho Bong´s next film, with the working title of ¨Mother,¨ casting for the two main parts have been made. Playing the lead role is veteran television actress Hye-ja Kim and playing her son will be Bin Won. The movie´s director, Joon-ho Bong, has directed the most financially successful Korean film to date ¨The Host¨ and has directed other critically acclaimed movies like ¨Barking Dogs Never Bite¨ and ¨Memories of Murder.¨

Versatile South Korean actor Suk-gyu Han (Christmas in August, Scarlet Letter, The President’s Last Bang) indeed is making a comeback after a long 2 year hiatus. He’s set to star in the gritty new action film “An Eye for an Eye” (Nuneneun Nun, Yieneun Yi). Fans should notice a change with Suk-gyu Han immediately in the film as his hair is now died a menacing white/grey.

HAF annonuces 25 projects for 2008 (Chan-wook Park/Joon-ho Bong/Ho-Cheung Pang)

HAF (Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum) has announced its 2008 selection of 25 Asian film projects. This year’s projects includes a strong list of films from such notable directors as Ho-Cheung Pang (”Exodus”), Joon-ho Bong (”The Host”), Chan-wook Park(”Oldboy”), and Hideo Nakata (”Ringu”). HAF runs in parallel with the Hong International Film Festival (March 17-20) and allows directors to pitch their ideas to financiers. In years past such notable films as “The Good, The Bad, and The Weird,” “Getting Home” “Freesia: Icy Tears,” “Lost in Beijing,” “Invisible Waves” and “The Wayward Cloud” have all participated in HAF. Expect these films to come out sometime later 2008 - 2009.

Netflix partners with LG to offer Internet TV in a box

Netflix has the movies, LG has the hardware and we (the consumer) have the cash flow. Now, can all these elements align together and make a successful product? Time will tell. Netflix has announced that it’s partnering with LG on a TV Set Top Box that streams movies directly from the internet to your tube. Not many details have been announced at this point but we imagine that it’s somewhere between your standard DVR and Apple TV. Netflix has recently started allowing customers to watch movies directly on their PC and this seems to be taking that idea one step further. As if walking to the mailbox was too much for you soon you will be able to have it at your fingertips… instantly.

Director Ha Yu has selected Jin-mo Ju (200 Pounds Beauty and A Love) to star in his upcoming period piece “Ssanghwajeom”. Jin-mo Ju will appear alongside In-seong Jo who was already cast by Ha Yu. In-seong Jo is no stranger with Ha Yu’s work, as they previously worked together in the 2006 mob film “A Dirty Carnival”.
