Leslie Feist’s THE REMINDER will undoubtedly be regarded as a monumental recording from a singer and musician at the pinnacle of her creative powers, releasing an awe-inspiring album whose collection of sounds are like nothing else out there except, of course, Feist! This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius and Feist is her goddess, lantern in hand, keys to open the gates.

Ardent fans and those newly introduced to her will find here, to their astonishment, a singer who has achieved a mastery over her voice which she employs fantastically like a harbinger’s clarion call. She has harvested a bounty of sounds that, separately alone, can be traced to some element from the musical collective unconscious — but it is in its melding where she has struck magic in a kind of spiritual epiphany. It is startling to hear these songs and come to imagine the insight that gave birth to them, like she had found these visions in a trip to some ether world, in dreams, that tap into the very breath and pulse and beat and rhythm of life, sounding so vitally like a force of nature that they have the appearance of having always existed and yet are newly born. To describe each song would seem somehow trite; so I won’t, but rather let you discover their brilliance from your own perspective, in your own due time. I try not to be judgmental of people if I can, but for this, I will have to make an exception and say that if you encounter these songs and not walk away with the intimations of transcendent joy and peace, then I am sad to say that you have no heart.

THE REMINDER is a benchmark recording whose impact I am sure will last far into the future and from whom current and future musicians can only emulate with awestruck reverence.

Just a heads up: if you get the cd, it comes with a sheet with texting information to get all of the songs as ringtones. I still haven’t crawled out of my cave to get a cell phone, so it does me no good, but it’s still one more reason I prefer cds over mp3 downloads. ^_^

I’m listening to this one right now as I prep for some more more exams…and the songs just make me drool. Hard to sit still to this one…maybe I should turn it off.

Oh yeah, Intuition. I had “Feist’s Song” for a good few months, and wondered whether or not it was a broken mp3 or there was more. Good to see she finished it.

Feist is amazing, and there are definitely four songs on here which are classics in my book. My Man, I Feel it All, So Sorry, and Brandy. Trying not to devour them in case they lose their charm.:)

This will sound quite blasphemous, but although I had always considered her to be amazingly talented, it was not until this album that I became attuned to her music. “The Limit To Your Love” is my favorite, like being struck by lightning in a figuratively good way, and having the surge of electricity awaken senses you were unaware you had. This should surprise a great many people in how good it is. ^_^

Oh yes, lunapark6 press credentials has its privileges.

Feisty Fawn is one slick Linux Operating System! Ooops..sorry wrong article. This is for Feist…

Just wanted to add that I also think the Reminder is an awesome record. I loved “Let It Die”… which often reminded me of a modern day soundtrack written for an Audrey Hepburn movie.

On “The Reminder”…the songs generally sound like Feist letting her hair down and cutting loose with a brimming (fun) confidence that translates so well into some highly infectious songs. The album often has the romantic vibe of “Let It Die” but the songs are generally more upbeat and fun.

Not sure which I album I like more, but it’s a pleasant question to ponder.

“Past In Present” “One Two Three Four” “So Sorry” are some killer songs.
